Amontillado (Gutiérrez Colosía) Review

Amontillado (Bodegas Gutiérrez-Colosía I’ve been drinking whisky, including sherried whiskies for over 20 years but i’ve never really had sherry on it’s own other than a wee glass of Oloroso at a Highland Park tasting.

As part of the Sherrynotes (@sherrynotes) #SherryTT twitter tasting this Amontillado was the second Sherry of the evening.

The nose on this Sherry is fabulous, it does everything i would want in something to drink and is even quite whisky like in nature, the palate however didn’t do it for me, just too tarte for my palate.

Thanks to Sherrynotes (@sherrynotes) for including me on this tasting.

Tasting Notes & Details

Firey plums, much saltier than the manzanilla for me, a little treacley, slightly chocolatey, like over cooked dark chocolate, almost burnt, coming back to this gave me buttery shortbread notes also.

wow really quite tarte becomes quite chewy, almost caramel peanuts, sweeter, honey maybe, then dry

again quite dry, maybe too dry for me.
