Springbank / Scotch Malt Whisky Society

SMWS 27.108 A Savoury Experience Review

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society Most of the whisky I've had from this distillery has been in ex sherry casks but this ex bourbon from distillery 27 really does add a fresh fruity tropical note that I wasn't expecting.

This is really juicy, especially on the palate and although there's still a dirty oily note, which you expect from Campbeltown drams, this is really quite fresh and tasty , surprisingly so.

This dram has made me keener to look for more ex bourbon drams from distillery 27 and not stay with the ex sherry and ex port that I would normally look for.

If you Like single cask whisky you really should be a member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

Tasting Notes & Details

There's an acetone note first before a note of tropical fruit juices come through them a dirty dusty Dunbar warehouse note comes through with waxy dark fruits of plum skin and nectarine, a touch of malty biscuit too

Sweet tangy tropical fruits hit first with pineapple and papaya, then a much more dirty oily waxy fruit note of dragonfruit, passion fruit and plum skins, really juicy, there's a puff of smoke in here also that I didn't get on the nose

Sweet juicy yummy
