Auchroisk / Claxtons

Auchroisk 25 year old (Claxtons) Review

Auchroisk 25 year old (Claxtons) Another single cask example from Claxtons, i really enjoyed their Bruichladdich Rioja finish so had high hopes for this old Singleton.

Auchroisk is a distillery i have a bit of experience with from my day job, and find it a bit hit and miss, but a 25 year old matured in ex-bourbon casks, it sounds right up my street.

Tasty and intriguing the nose is really inviting yet the palate is hugely bitter, woody and peppery, one of those drams you can't say whether you like or not, the nose is exceptional but the palate just too bitter and peppery for my taste

Thanks to Claxton's Spirits for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Lots of lovely fresh fruits, refresher bars, pink lemonade, honeycomb and malteasers, tangy citrus fruit pith, oaky spices creep in with forrest moss, the fresh fruits keep enticing me in

Not as fresh as the nose suggests, woody, oaky, peppery and citrus pith tartness, malt loaf and malteasers without the sweet chocolate

Peppery, tarte
