Bunnahabhain / Claxtons

Bunnahabhain 2002 (Claxtons) Review

Bunnahabhain 2002 (Claxtons) Another single cask example from Claxtons, I've een lucky enough to try a few from their range now and was looking forward to trying this Bunnahabhain.

The nose doesn't work for me, it's definitely sour and a bit too lactic for my liking, not hugely pleasant for sure, the palate is much more to my liking with the lactic gone and much more bittersweet, oily dirty notes in there which work really well for me, this is a tasty dram, and although the nose is offputting the palate is worth the effort.

Available to Buy from Master of Malt

Thanks to Claxton's Spirits for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Toffee and soor plooms come first, greengages and star fruit, a hint of some sour milk and Bavarian smoked cheese like, with the waxy rind there too, this is not a nose that I'm finding too pleasant.

Sweet and sugary, toffee Bon bons and sugar coated sour fruits, its most definitely bittersweet, much more sweet and pleasant than the nose, oily and dirty, but in a good way,

Oily, dirty, long, a hint of char
