Bunnahabhain 2006 The MacPhails Collection (Gordon and MacPhail) Review

Bunnahabhain 2006 The MacPhails Collection (Gordon and MacPhail) Another Bunnahabhain from Gordon and MacPhails wood makes the whisky campaign this expression is a 2006 non pleated dram from The MacPhails Collection.

I love unpeated bunnahabhain and have been a huge fan of this distillery for a huge number of years, this is filled with toffee, caramel and buttery notes on the nose which transfers to a bit of black jack sweets and eucalyptus on the palate and finish, something I’m not normally keen on but this is just such a tasty dram it works as a lovely side note to it.

Available at Master of Malt and other specialists.

Thanks to Gordon & MacPhail for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Creamy butter toffees are here first, werthers originals, the barley sugars, sweet cereal notes, lemon pith and a hint of crushed lemongrass, a touch of sea samphire and grassy riverbanks notes, preserved lemons.

Soft and buttery caramel toffee notes come first, black jack sweets, sea samphire, cereal and hints of minerality, that lemongrass is back again.

Quite a bit of eucalyptus and black jack sweets, fades slowly
