BenRiach 16Yr Cask Strength & Carry On ( Review

Benriach 16 Year Old Cask Strength and Carry On This whisky i've tried twice now, once as a sample from my friend Steve (@steveprentice) and once as Day 7 of the 12 Drams of Xmas from Jonathon (@dvdbloke).

The background to this whisky is that this is the second release from the lads at (@weheartwhisky) and represents the "B" in their A-Z of drinks--the first being a limited edition Arran single malt Scotch whisky. Released in conjunction with BenRiach, this rich and powerful dram was distilled in 1996, aged for 16 years, and bottled at cask strength (55.2%). It comes from one cask (5614) and thus has a limited release of only 296 bottles.

It sold out pretty quick but keep an eye on Master Of Malt as there may be others appearing in the not too distant future.

Tasting Notes & Details

definite sherried notes, some dried fruit with tobacco and ground coffee, treacle scones and old fashioned caramel chews, some bourbon notes also with a touch of vanilla custard in there too

some sweet jam and bitter coffee mixed with vanilla pods and dried fruit, more treacle scones
