BenRiach 12 Year Old Peated Rum Finish ‘Arumaticus Fumosus’ Review

BenRiach 12 Year Old Peated Rum Finish ‘Arumaticus Fumosus’ This BenRiach 12 Year Old Peated Rum Finish ‘Arumaticus Fumosus’ is an odd one, originally bought on a visit to Royal Mile Whiskies by my best mate Dave we soon did a swap when he realised he'd picked up the PEATED rum finish and not the standard rum finish. (He isnt a fan of peat)

I really like this, the rum gives it a really interesting edge and with me hoping to experiment a bit more with rum in the future this one really makes me want to do that sooner rather than later.

Tasting Notes & Details

the nose on this is utterly fabulous but it's also oneof the weirdest things ever, the mix of dark rum, gentle peat smoke and sweetness are really interesting. The rum really comes out in this with liquorice and aniseed, the peat smoke is gentle and like the kind you get sitting in the same room as an open peat fire thats gently licking away.

liquorice and smoke with the rum really giving this a lovely element, there's a touch of oak and sweetness

liquorice and aniseed with a gentle pepperyness.
