Balblair / Balblair

Balblair 1978 Review

Balblair 1978 A sample of this lovely Balblair came my way via a friend and i've ever so glad he thought i should try it.

i've been suitable impressed with the Balblair whisky vintages range (especially the 1975 which matches my birth year) and this 1978 was certainly no let down either.

No longer available from anywhere i can find (email me if you can and i'll link) but certainly a few others in the range available to buy from Master of Malt and i'd happily recommend you try some.

Tasting Notes & Details

The nose of this starts off with some initially quite woody notes of smooth oak, this subsides to sweet cereal notes almost like manuka honey covered weetabix, after being left to sit in the glass for a minute or two it becomes quite caramel like with vanilla, like a nice creme brule.

touches of caramel and oak swirl with manuka honey and crushed carnation flowers

gentle with slight tingle and a lasting oak finish.
